It is used in such renowned websites as Speak Up, The morning news and De Poezenkrant.Here are John Butler’s pictures from TypeCon. Ever wondered where the typeface Arial came from? Here’s Mark Simonson’s article on the history of this infamous typeface. LetterError’s Erik van Blokland and Just van Rossum presented an amazing typeface for the Twin Cities Design Celebration at TypeCon. Twin is a condensed typeface with 10 variants including Sans, Formal, Round, Wierd, Poster Sans, Loopy, Casual, Weird Round, Gothic and BitRound. In order to manage this large number of glyphs with different personalities, Erik and Just wrote programs that would pick and choose and mix and match these glyphs according to the context of use. For the online version to be used on the website, they even went as far as drawing weather information such as temperature and wind direction and let that influence the look of the typeface, all in real time! It is a typeface that brilliantly acknowledges that cities are organisms that have multiple personalities and are in constant flux. Truly amazing.
